From this year onwards, the Brabantsedag is implementing a circular cup system. With this, we aim to responsibly recycle at least 70% of the plastic cups this year.
How does the cup system work? When you purchase your first drink, you pay a one-time fee of €0.50 for an eco-token as an environmental contribution for the cup. For each subsequent drink, you only pay the price of the drink, as long as you return your used cup. It doesn't matter if the cup is folded or torn when returned to the bar, as long as it isn't covered in sand or other dirt. If it is, the cup cannot be properly recycled. If you don't have an empty cup when getting your next drink, you'll need to pay another €0.50 for a new eco-token.
Where can I get the eco-token? Tokens are available for purchase at vending machines (preferred) and at separate cash registers on BD grounds (Wilhelmina, town hall, and Strabrecht).
Where do I leave my last cup? Make sure your last cup can also be recycled. You can deposit it in the specially designated waste bins on the festival grounds, or you can return it to the bar. A cup cannot be exchanged for money. The one-time cost of the eco-token is used to responsibly recycle all the cups.
Sunday, August 25th These tokens can be redeemed at all Brabantsedag bars. Drinks purchased on Sunday from vendors along the route can be paid for in cash or by card. Drinks will be served in cans/bottles, so no eco-token is needed for a cup.
