The poetry competition of the Brabantsedag 2024, which this year had the theme "Closer to Brabant," has successfully concluded. The competition attracted a great deal of interest, particularly in the adult category, where entries poured in from all over Brabant and even from Flanders. This highlights just how much the Brabantsedag resonates and inspires beyond Heeze.
The jury, consisting of Diana van Gennip, Ramon Wolf Franken, and Frank Ikink, faced the challenging task of judging the poems. "Writing poetry based on a given theme is an art in itself," noted the jury. Ultimately, the poems that best captured the essence of the Brabant spirit were selected.
The winners were announced during the children's afternoon in the town hall garden on Saturday, August 24th. Word artist Ramon recited the poems, much to the relief of the winners, who found it too nerve-wracking to present their work themselves. The prizes, provided by Intertoys van der Linden and Boekhandel Lektura, were handed out on-site to the winners who were present. The other winners received their prizes at their home addresses.
