Boukje van Ettro, former chair of the Brabantsedag Heeze Foundation, has been appointed as a Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau. On Thursday evening, during the foundation’s theme announcement event—which also marked her final activity as chair—she was surprised and decorated. She received the honor for her years of volunteer work for both the Brabantsedag and Hockey Heeze.
Since 2004, Boukje has been dedicated to the Brabantsedag. Over the past 10 years as chair, she played a key role in the professionalization and stabilization of this cultural-historical event. Under her leadership, the Brabantsedag has become a social bonding force for the community, attracting tens of thousands of visitors annually to enjoy the stunning parade. She has maintained relationships with government bodies, regional businesses, and community organizations and has been actively involved in promoting the foundation.
In addition to her work for the Brabantsedag, Boukje van Ettro has also devoted many years to Hockey Heeze. From 1994 to 2016, she coached various youth teams and served on the Technical Committee, where she was responsible for the girls' division. With immense enthusiasm and commitment, Boukje supported the G-hockey members. Currently, she is a loyal supporter of the women’s first team, where she played for years herself and where her daughters now play.
The appointment as a Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau recognizes Boukje's tireless dedication and commitment to the community. Her contributions have made a lasting impact on both the Brabantsedag and the hockey club.
